LNB Alignment | LNB and Multiswitch connections. | Check all 4 Pols present | Setting the Default Transponder to 12207 V 27.5. 5/6 | The Backup Button Reset | The Housekeeping Reset |
Unlike the circular US and Caribbean LNBs, the linear Euro LNB must be correctly aligned on the antenna

To check the alignment, set your satelite in the antenna controller to the ship's own longitude. If the vessel is at longitude 8 East, set SAT 8 E. Then go to the antenna and make sure that the LNB is exactly vertical, with the connections either at the top or the bottom. If if it is not, you will need to release the grub screws and straighten the LNB.

When you target Sky UK at SAT 28.2E again, the LNB will automatically rotate in the antenna to the correct alignment for 28.2E. If it does not, your POL TYPE setting in the setup menu may be set incorrectly.
One of the most common problems with Europe TV is the connections on the LNB and mislabeled or incorrect connections on the multiswitch. It is important to follow color codes when connecting the LNB and these should be followed through from the LNB to the coax conections at the base of the radome and  below deck at the multiswitch. Each port on the LNB must connect to the correct port on the multiswitch.

These are the channels that I used in 2013 in Palma, to verify that I had all 4 pols correctly connected on the multiswitch.

If you are in the southern Mediteranean, in the area of Naples, on the Italian side, or Valencia on the Spanish side, you will need to change the default transponder in the receiver to a channel that is in the Pan European beam. The receiver comes with a default transponder of 11778 VH which is in the North Beam. This needs to be changed to 12207 VH FEC 5/6 which is in the Pan Europe Beam.

To do this you need to access the installation menu. Note the menus may vary, depending on the model of your receiver.

Press the SERVICES button on the remote then select  4. SYSTEM SETUP.

To access the hidden INSTALLERS SETUP menu press 0 then 0 then 1 then SELECT
On some receivers it is just 0 then 1 then SELECT.
(Note that you will not see a change on screen as you pressthen 0 then 1 until you push SELECT)

Then select 2. DEFAULT TRANSPONDER. You should see the menu similar to this.

Change the default transponder to 12.207 and FEC to 5/6and press SELECT

The default transponder FEC has recently changed from 2/3 to 5/6. It is important to change this or the receiver will say no signal found
Press the green button to save the changes. The receiver will say scanning for channels.

Reset power to the box and check that your changes have been saved.

If the receivers have not been in use for some time, you may need to do some resets to refresh the software and settings.

The easiest reset to do is the BACKUP BUTTON RESET. I am not sure exactly what this does, but it sometimes helps. I think it downloads new software.  It may also erase previous recordings and settings.

Whle holding the BACKUP button, usually located on the top of the receiver, remove power and reconnect, and continue to hold the button for 10 seconds or until all the lights flash the screen shows "SOFTWARE DOWNLOAD"

Wait until this message disapears, and the box may shut down. Wait a futher 5 minutes before turning the receiver on again.

You may need to check or change the DEFAULT TRANSPONDER again.

Once again, I am not exactly sure what this procedure does, but it has solved a lot of problems in the past.

Press the SERVICES button on the remote then select  4. SYSTEM SETUP or highight the SETTINGS menu.

To access the hidden INSTALLERS SETUP menu press 0 then 0 then 1 then SELECT
(Note that you will not see a change on screen as you press and thenand then 1)

Select SYSTEM RESET. It will warn you that you are about to delete all recordings.

Press SELECT to continue and you should see "HOUSEKEEPING, PLEASE WAIT".

Wait for up to 2 minutes while the Sky box carries out the procedure, reboots itself, and goes to standby mode.

Wait another few minutes before powering it back on.

The screen may show SEARCHING FOR LISTINGS.

You may need to check or change the DEFAULT TRANSPONDER again.
